Where It Began
Shorebreak Finance was founded by Ron Ratini with a simple goal — to make
lending clearer, more strategic, and genuinely supportive.
The name Shorebreak reflects a deeply personal story. Ron grew up working
alongside his family, who were — and still are — commercial fishers in the '
Wollongong and Ulladulla regions. That environment instilled resilience, discipline,
and a strong work ethic from an early age. The second meaning comes from
family as well — Ron’s wife Rachel grew up riding horses, and her most treasured
childhood horse was named Broughton Shorebreak. Today, Berry is proudly home
for the Ratini family.
Coming from a hands-on family business shaped Ron’s early understanding of ownership, long-term thinking, and the importance of building wealth through smart decisions. After leaving school, he built a career in retail operations, progressing to executive leadership while completing a Bachelor of Accounting. Property investment quickly became a passion — purchasing his first home at 19 and growing a multi-million-dollar portfolio through considered decisions, development opportunities, and strategic lending.
Experiencing finance from the customer’s side — including its frustrations — ultimately led Ron to establish Shorebreak Finance to better support others navigating what can often feel like a complex process.
